Revamped Braun Prize returns in 2012

Product and industrial design awards scheme Braun Prize is to return to its three-yearly cycle following a period as a biennial event.

Upon its return in 2012, the revamped prize will attempt to be more accessible to members of the public with an interest in design. The international prize will also focus more on design in emerging markets than it has done previously.

‘We are further establishing our commitment to the accessibility of this competition and want to ensure that it not only provides a showcase to those who want to pursue a career in design, but that it also encourages engagement with design for those enthusiasts and professionals outside of an academic context,’ says head of Braun corporate design Professor Oliver Grabes.

The 2012 awards will be Braun Prize’s 18th outing since being founded in 1968. The 2009 Braun Prize winner was Johanna Schoemaker with her Clam OLED lamp design (pictured).
