Simon Bailey rejoins Interbrand as European chief executive

Simon Bailey has been appointed as chief executive officer of Interbrand Europe.

Bailey joins from The Brand Union, where he was chief executive of the London, Madrid and Dublin offices. He will join Interbrand in January, based in the London office, and replaces Jean-Baptiste Danet, who left the role this month.

Bailey will be replaced at The Brand Union by Toby Southgate, the consultancy’s managing director in New York, who will join the London office in January. Southgate previously set up The Brand Union’s Abu Dhabi office and was managing director in Dubai for the Middle East region.

Southgate says, ’I’m thrilled to be moving back to the UK and look forward to working with the brilliant executive team in London that consists of a number of industry greats. I have every confidence that 2011 is going to be the best year yet.’

This will be Bailey’s second tenure at Interbrand. He worked for the consultancy between 1997 and 2004, when he held new business, account direction and consulting roles.

He joined The Brand Union in 2004, where he managed the consultancy’s global Vodafone account.

Bailey says, ‘I’m delighted to be part of Interbrand once again. This is an exciting and challenging role, and I look forward to working closely with the executive board in developing client relationships and heightening Interbrand’s value position in Europe’s dynamic marketplace.’

Jez Frampton, global chief executive of Interbrand, says, ‘We have found, in Simon, someone with proven experience in managing multiple offices. Furthermore, he brings with him nearly two decades of branding experience and a visionary view of how to position the company for success in the challenging UK market.’
