Small Back Room picked as Nigerian bank reinvents itself

Small Back Room has been appointed to develop the brand for the Urban Development Bank of Nigeria.

The bank was set up primarily to provide finance and banking services to foster the rapid development of urban infrastructure throughout the country. The bank says it aims to facilitate private-sector investment in the West African country.

Small Back Room says it was approached directly by the bank and offered the work on the back of its rebranding of Nigeria-based company Ancient.

The consultancy will be working towards a rebranding and renaming of the bank, and will earn upwards of £50 000 upon the project’s completion.

As of yet there have been no decisions taken regarding the renaming of the bank – proposals and presentations were made to the bank’s board two weeks ago.

After considering the proposals and rebranding ideas, a decision will be made within the next month regarding the new direction of the bank.

Tim Lewis, client services director of Small Back Room, believes that the project will be completed within the next three months.

For the UDBN rebranding project, Riz Jaffer-Clarke is leading the design team for Small Back Room, with Farhan Urfi taking the creative lead.

Small Back Room has previously worked on projects for clients based in Russia, Kuwait and Romania, among other countries.
