Stone Creative creates Geeks digital identity

Stone Creative Design has created a new brand identity, website and guidelines for online review site www.geeks.co.uk.

The site, which will relaunch this week, has expanded to cover music, film, DVD and comedy, as well as its original focus on gadgets and gaming.

Stone Creative Design was commissioned to rebrand the site in October 2009 after being recommended on the strength of previous projects. The consultancy presented five concepts before honing in on a retro-inspired look for both the logo and website.

Consultancy director Eamonn Foy says, ‘We created a contemporary and funky logo, something that will appeal to the target audience.’

Marketing agency 7thingsmedia, which handles the online marketing for Geeks.co.uk, tasked Stone Creative Design with strengthening the website’s personality. The agency’s managing director Chris Bishop chose Stone Creative Design because of its branding expertise and ability to pin down the appeal and message of the site.

Bishop says, ‘The new-look website is immediately appealing to our demographic – it’s urban, edgy, progressive and fun. It’s not stiff, yet still has swagger.’

Geeks editor-in-chief Ally Millar says, ‘We knew we needed a strong brand and an image that was thematically strong, eye-catching and raw.’
