The Big Window works on Hunterian Museum guidebook

The Big Window is creating a guidebook for the Hunterian Museum in London, which is run by the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Consultancy founder Adrian Nunn says The Big Window won a three-way pitch in August partly on the strength of previous work for the RCS.

The guidebook is being designed to generate interest in the museum and ‘provide a souvenir for its visitors while acting as an additional revenue system’, says Nunn.

The Hunterian Museum houses medical collections including anatomy and pathology specimens, wax teaching models, surgical and dental instruments, paintings, drawings and sculpture.

Nunn says the book, which will be published in January 2011, will look to appeal equally to medical professionals and visitors interested in the curiosities of the collections.

The look and feel will reflect the 200-year-old history of the institution, Nunn says, and ‘leave people with something to take away and discuss’.
