Think Public in Alzheimer’s Society service design task

Think Public is working on new national services for the Alzheimer’s Society.

The consultancy has worked with people with dementia, their carers and other health professionals to develop post-diagnosis services for Alzheimer’s sufferers.

The project is in response to the Department of Health’s national dementia strategy, released last November.

Paul Thurston, head of design at Think Public, says, ‘The main challenge was to signpost services that are available after diagnosis, and provide support for issues such as patients having to stop work.’

Think Public has been working on four pilot sites, in Birmingham, Coventry, west Kent and Greenwich, to develop a database outlining support services, and to create the role of ‘dementia advisers’. This scheme will be expanded to 22 sites across the UK next month.
