Tigerspike creates iPad app for Daily Telegraph

Digital consultancy Tigerspike has created an iPad app for newspaper The Daily Telegraph.

The consultancy worked closely with the newspaper’s in-house design team to develop the app, which launches today, following previous projects for the Telegraph Media Group.

Features of the app include a night-reading mode, graphics and cartoon galleries, a multimedia navigation panel that allows users to flick between video and image galleries, interactive crosswords, a 30-day archive and ‘pinch and zoom’ capability.

Tigerspike, which has previously created apps for The Times and The Economist, worked heavily on the user journey for the app, which allows readers to navigate through the issue using either scroll arrows or a menu list.

It is claimed that Tigerspie ‘worked heavily on the user journey for te app’. Well, not hard enough – it is Awful? It doesn’t even use hyperlinks to x-ref from one stry to, eg, an editorial. Mst issues of the ‘paper’ are full of typos, poor text justification and the picture galleries don’t link back to their menu in the latest version. It really gives a bad name to e-journals in my opinion.
