London College of Communications graphic design student Samuel Mensah-Bonsu has created promotional posters for the British Film Institute’s Future Film Festival. Eight LCC students were invited to pitch ideas for the festival in a project led by LCC tutor Sian Cook and BFI designer Piccia Neri, before Mensah-Bonsu’s designs were chosen.

Jamie Hewlett has designed a bottle for Absolut vodka, creating the Absolut London design as part of the brand’s city seriesHewlett has designed a series of seven characters depicting London over the ages, including the Dickensian and 18th Century Dandy, a ‘Pinstripe gent’ and a punk. The limited-edition bottle goes on sale in Selfridges and Harvey Nichols on 1 March.

The Royal Mail is set to issue a set of ten Charles Dickens stamps in June, and has unveiled two of them today to mark the bicentenary of the author’s birth. The Mr Pickwick stamp features illustrations by ‘Kyd’ (Joseph Clayton Clarke) and the Nicholas Nickleby stamp features the work of ‘Phiz’, (Hablot Knight Brown).

Wolfram Weidner has designed the poster for Canary Wharf Screen, a new year-long film and motion picture screening programme at Canary Wharf Tube station. Weidner has created the Canary Wharf skyline using film stills from films to be be shown on the screen, every third frame being used to create what ultimately becomes one film strip. The first season for Canary Wharf Screen opens in March.

The London Street Photography Festival has rebranded itself as London Festival of Photography with a new identity designed in-house by parent organisation Shoot Experience, which developed the brand around an icon from a lino print by Alison Ball.

Photo retoucher Steve Bland, who launched an identity as ‘The Great Blandini’ last year, is releasing mailer ‘The Little Book of Photo-Shoppe Trickery’, which reveals some of his most precious secrets. The mailer has been developed by Mike Reed of Reed Words and Mike Rigby, creative director at Interbrand Sydney, who also created The Great Blandini branding.
