Cornwall Design Forum to launch design directory

The Cornwall Design Forum is to launch a new design directory, which will be marketed directly at businesses looking for design input.

The Cornwall Design Directory will allow comprehensive designer listings, including examples of visual work. It will act as a resource for businesses to find the best fit for their needs, says Cornwall Design Forum chairman Paul Davies.

Funding for the project has been secured by the Cornwall Design Forum and Designs of the Time Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly from the Economic Challenge Investment Fund, a Higher Education Funding Council for England initiative.

A tender has been issued by the forum to create two new websites, one for the Cornwall Design Directory and another for Cornwall Design Forum. The forum is seeking design groups interested in creating a site for one or both of the projects.

Davies says, ‘The sites are part of a new strategy trying to make the forum more business-facing and trying to push the value of design, both in Cornwall and the rest of the country.’

It is hoped that a consultancy will be appointed at the beginning of November and the new websites will be launched before Christmas.

Information about the tender can be found at www.cornwalldesignforum.co.uk.
