Very in Coppafeel digital breast cancer charity work

Very has created a website for breast cancer awareness charity Coppafeel.

The charity was set up by Kristin Hallenga, who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year at the age of 23. It aims to promote breast examination in younger women to detect breast cancer.

Very has been working on the site, which launches next week, for around three months, according to director Alex Smith. He says the consultancy was appointed to the project directly.

Very was briefed to develop a site aimed at a target audience of women aged 18-30, taking its cue from the existing logo and colour palette. ‘The charity wanted something professional, but which still had a hand-made element,’ says Smith.

The site, which will be updated through a bespoke content management system developed by Very, will feature feeds from Hallenga’s blog and Twitter feed, as well as encouraging audience interaction by clicking the Hooters counter or sending in a picture using the Cop Around the World feature.

Smith says, ‘We wanted to feed in from the blog and the Twitter feed, but it’s not Hallenga’s personal site – it’s the charity site – so we had to make sure they remained separate entities.’

As a member of the site’s target market, it inspired me to want to tell as many young women as possible to give their boobs a squeeze and be cancer aware.

Great site, and an especially great story.
