New Designers artwork copying an old theme?

I have attached two pictures (see above): one from the Royal Society of Art’s Student Design Awards 2002; the other, New Designers 2004. While there are obvious differences I think the similarities are startling.

I have attached two pictures (see above): one from the Royal Society of Art’s Student Design Awards 2002; the other, New Designers 2004. While there are obvious differences, I think the similarities are startling. Even if the ‘homage’ was unintentional, I expect the original designer (Unleaded) must be pretty hacked off.
