San Francisco group Cabra Diseño has designed a series of books, entitled the Compact Design Portfolio, which are published by Chronicle Books in March.
The series launches with four books on contemporary designers of the 20th century, Richard Sapper by Michael Webb, Michael Graves by Julie Iovine (pictured), and Eileen Gray and Jean Prouvé, both by Penelope Rowlands.
Each volume contains an introductory essay outlining the designer’s life and work, and features key pieces illustrated by photographs and sketches.
Illustrations include Sapper’s Tizio lamp, Graves’ Target line of products, Prouvé’s pioneering metal furniture and Gray’s Rioli desk.
The series is scheduled to continue with more ‘contemporary international design heroes’.
