New shopping centre to open in Kuwait on 21 April

A new shopping centre launches in Kuwait on 21 April with interiors designed by Eldrige Smerin.

The consultancy, which designed the interiors for the public spaces, food and beverage areas and multi-brand shops, was also responsible for the exterior landscape and 12m-high lights that are designed to sway in the wind.

Eldridge Smerin partner Nick Eldridge says the brief for the interior was to develop a contemporary design that remained rooted in Kuwaiti traditions. This has been achieved by using materials such as wood and taking ideas such as ornate screens from traditional markets.
