20/20’S vision for Carl Knauber

German DIY retailer Carl Knauber has appointed 20/20 to design its latest store. If successful, the consultancy’s format could be applied to the rest of the chain.

The London retail specialist has been briefed to create a retail identity for the business, followed by interiors for the stores, which will be launched at a new 10 000m2 showcase next summer in Pulheim, north-west Germany.

The rebranding will aim to reinforce the chain’s presence in the eyes of existing customers, while striving to win new custom, explains 20/20 client director Nathalie Etienne.

‘The brand is already well-known for its garden and hobby offers and this is about underlining what it does in DIY,’ she says. ‘We will be able to draw on our experience of working with DIY players in central Europe and the UK.’
