Designers should try on graduates’ shoes for size

I find Alistair Williamson’s letter (DW 27 November) extremely annoying. The assumption that most companies have student placements is extremely arrogant. If this is the case, why is he still receiving letters asking for jobs or work experience?

Letters like this are extremely discouraging when all you want to do is get a bit of experience, which is essential if you want a job.

Perhaps Williamson should remember what it was like when he graduated and find out how hard it is to find work experience, let alone a decent job.
