New site built at Mercadium

Mercadium, a new e-commerce site for the building industry, is looking for a design consultancy to help launch it on to the European market this summer.

Five British construction companies have joined forces to launch the site: Aggregate Industries, Alfred McAlpine, BPB, Pilkington and RMC.

Due for a mid-summer launch, the site has been set up by three entrepreneurs, Emma Welsh, Jerome Losson and Robert Gill. Welsh, a director, says: “It is essential for electronic market places, irrespective of their industries, to set the standard. We will be seeking to imitate the Amazon.com effect and get the largest trading volume through our site.”
