Action Man gets new face

Hasbro’s in-house design team is relaunching the classic children’s toy Action Man using the facial features of selected male celebrities. Eight dolls featuring the resculptured face will be available in toy stores this week.

New Action Man has the hair of Tom Cruise, the eyes of Robbie Williams, the nose of David Beckham, the mouth of Russell Crowe and the jaw line of Brad Pitt. Action Man has also been given a more toned physique, but will retain his trademark scar.

A spokeswoman for Hasbro says that the old face was becoming dated. “The new design is to keep up with the times. Action Man should match the aspirations of modern kids – cool gear, extreme sports and exciting adventures. Hasbro has used current heroes to reflect this,” she says.
