Fern Green creates Relax interiors

Retail interiors group Fern Green Partnership has designed the interiors for Relax, a health, massage and well-being centre, in London’s Brewer Street, which opened last week.

The design consultancy, which was appointed three years ago without a formal pitch, collaborated closely with SGH Legend on the Relax brand identity.

Relax, which ultimately aims to become a high street brand, was five years in development and offers a combination of drop-in massage and healthy eating options in its two bars.

Fern Green senior project designer Mark Christy says, “It was important to create a brand that can be taken throughout the country and into the high street.”

Simple construction, diffused light and muted colours have been used to create a relaxed, not a clinical, ambience.

The ground floor has been designed to attract passing trade, with brighter colours than the upper floor. The upper floor is where full body massages are offered. The first floor is decorated in more tranquil colours and furnished with low-level seating and fresh flowers.

Christy says that it was given total control over the look of Relax. “It needed to be accessible and dispel any concerns about its location and function.

Warm and vibrant colours were used to create a relaxed and thoroughly chilled atmosphere,” he says.
