The painter, printmaker and designer Edward Bawden produced some of his most important work while employed as a commercial artist for Fortnum & Mason from 1925. This month, The Mainstone Press is publishing Entertaining À La Carte: Edward Bawden and Fortnum & Mason, designed by Webb & Webb, and written by Peyton Skipwith.

The oversize hardback features more than 200 of Bawden’s illustrations, which were all carefully sourced and painstakingly retouched because Fortnum & Mason’s archive was bombed and destroyed during World War II.
