Let’s all donate to those who have lost their future

I didn’t know how to start this letter, so I decided the best way was just to express my thoughts about the tsunami disaster.

Teviot sponsors 14 children spread throughout the third world. Each child is able to get medical supplies, healthy food and attend school to help improve their future. The organisation we use to achieve this is a Christian organisation called Compassion.

When I heard about the disaster I was extremely concerned, as two of our sponsor children are in affected areas. I am still unsure as to whether they have survived the disaster.

Compassion has set up a fund, which will be sent to the various relief organisations situated within the most effected areas. All the funds raised will go to help the people and villages get their lives back together, having lost their children, families, homes and futures.

I would dearly love to give this part of the world more than just what Teviot can. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if design companies throughout the UK could come together and give to this cause?

I am sorry to have to ask you if you’d like to donate. When I tuck my children in at night knowing they are safe and have a future, I feel I have to help those that no longer have that privilege. If I didn’t write this letter to you, I would always be wondering how much more I could have done to help. If I was one of those affected I’d be hoping someone, somewhere was prepared to help me.

Our website – www.teviot.co.uk – shows you the children we sponsor and this links to Compassion’s website, in case you would like further details of their work.

If you feel able to join us, cheques should be made payable to ‘Compassion UK’, but clearly marked ‘Tsunami Relief Fund’ on the reverse. Please send c/o Teviot. All proceeds will be treated in the strictest confidence. It doesn’t matter how much or little you give. Whatever you give you are going to make a difference to the life of someone who has lost their future.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and please do not feel under any obligation to give. I fully understand that you may have already donated money or have other charities that you would prefer to support.

In the meantime, have a happy and creative 2005.
