DBA inclusive design winners

Two groups are celebrating after the conclusion of the 2008 Design Business Association Inclusive Design Challenge. Winners Judge Gill and communications group Adare were named last night at a ceremony at the Royal College of Art.

Entrants were asked to come up with ideas and innovations to help people suffering from memory loss and dementia.

Adare won for the Mind Book, a multimedia software application that acts as a virtual scrapbook, incorporating a diary and ‘life book’ in which users store images, music and words.

Retail consultancy Judge Gill was honoured for its modular care home, Ormsthwaite House. The home features a system for residents to find their way back to their rooms.

Adrian Wheeler, DBA board director, says, ‘To choose one clear winner would have been inappropriate given the diversity and standard of responses.’
