Irish groups Design Works and Averill Brophy Associates have scooped two awards each in a competition organised by the Institute of Designers in Ireland. The inaugural awards marked the end of Ireland’s first design week.

Averill Brophy won best packaging design and the Grand Prix award for its work on the U2 Pop album covers. Design Works picked up awards for best corporate identity and best exhibition, both for the National Museum of Ireland.

The award for product design went to Design Partners for its work for computer company Logitech, while BFK Design Group received the printed literature award for promoting Irish industry abroad.

Other winners were Douglas Wallace and de Paor Architects in the interiors categories and Image Now Films for its television graphics for the programme Christmas Presence.
