Sud Tub bowls

Glasgow product designers Will White and Katarina Barac were feeling washed out when it came to new ideas, until they watched a friend dismantle his washing machine.

The result was the Sud Tub bowl, which is whizzing its way into Glaswegian kitchens. White and Barac – who have their own consultancy – One Foot Taller – have been collecting the glass doors of machines and have evolved seven bowl designs.

“We reclaim the door fronts and sandblast them with whichever of our designs suits best,” say the pair. Apparently this depends on the shape of the bowl and the positioning of scratches on it.

One Foot Taller is showing the Sud Tub and other products at the International Autumn Fair at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre from 10 to 13 September.
