Designers do read books without pictures

I think, therefore I’m not. I like good copy. I read it. I persuade clients to edit it or to have their copy rewritten, whether it is just a tidying-up exercise or something more substantial, such as jargon-busting. It could even be driven by a need to use language that will engage a particular audience.

I query text that clients have signed off. I’ve been hired by writers to work on projects with them. I learn from writers I work with. I even read books without pictures!

So I can’t be a designer, then. Tea, anyone?
