Travelodge ‘pods’ target Glasto market

For festival-goers, roughing it may soon be a thing of the past, as Travelodge launches prototype mobile hotel rooms, known as Travelpods (pictured).

The budget hotel chain has teamed up with marketing company Anthem to devise the Travelpod concept and bring luxury camping to the masses for a trial price of £26 a night.

The 6m by 6.4m clear polycarbonate box will be delivered to sites, complete with luxury double beds, en-suite bathroom, heating, air conditioning and a flat-screen TV, designed by design group The One Off.

The One Off creative director Richard Collier says, ‘We have created a space that is fresh, contemporary and comfortable – and transposed all the elements into a mobile bedroom unit.’

‘The Travelpod is about pushing the concept of accessibility one step further and bringing the room to where the people are,’ he adds.
