As a leading bathroom manufacturer, we would like to make some comments on “Designs on Your Loo” (Review, DW 3 July). The programme was certainly an eye-opener for us. It is always fascinating to see how others work, especially your competitors.

Reviews and letters in the national and design press confirm that viewers have come away with a low opinion of the receptiveness of the UK sanitary-ware industry to innovative design. We would like to reverse this opinion.

Ideal-Standard has recently worked with Seymour Powell. The group designed our latest range of taps and mixers, Academy, which is, as Dick Powell said, “an outstanding design solution to consumers’ desires. Many people want cutting-edge modernity – designs that push beyond the expected. Academy does this. Academy is a testament to Ideal-Standard’s bravery, will, ability and CAD skills.”

Our latest introduction to the market is the Space concept – designed by Robin Levien. This enables householders to transform, say, a corner of a moderately-sized master bedroom into an en suite bathroom, complete with shower, basin and toilet, all in the footprint of a large corner bath.
