Tangent One creates identity and online presence for The Hive

Tangent One has branded and is designing an online presence for wholesaler Gardeners Books’ new venture The Hive, which is aiming to increase customer awareness of high street bookshops.


Appointed directly in May 2010, Tangent One sought to develop an identity, tone of voice and the name The Hive, which the consultancy  says was inspired by ‘the insight that bookshops can be friendly and busy centres of activity for communities of all types’. 

The site will also allow independent book stores to offer customers ebooks as well as aim to drive footfall to their stores.

A launch is planned for spring following further consultation with booksellers to hone the concept.

Customers can order online at hive.co.uk and choose an option to have the book delivered for free to their local independent book store, or to their home. The consultancy says either way customers’ local or designated book store will receive a commission. 

A Hive Store Network is being integrated with store profile pages indicating details including opening hours, forthcoming events and feature titles.
