Pop band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark’s new cover designs are by Peter Saville and Area + Associates. The album, Universal, and the single, Walking on the Milky Way, feature water molecule imagery across a horizon. ‘The concept came from the [album] title,’ says Area partner Richard Smith. The sleeves’ colours were used to reflect the fact that the music has moved on, Smith adds. Area partner Cara Gallardo created the overall design for the campaign. Universal is about to be released and the group is now designing a second single.
