United Designers scoops first shopfitting award

United Designers is the first winner of the National Association of Shopfitters’ Design Partnership Award. This new award, announced in London on Tuesday night, covers interior and shopfitting design.

United Designers received the award for the reception area and rooms at the Metropolitan Hotel in London’s Park Lane. The shopfitting was carried out by Goodman Hichens.

Hosker Moore & Kent was highly commended for its design for Valentino Boutique in London’s Sloane Street, with shopfitting by A Davies & Co.

Also highly commended was Percy Johnson-Marshall & Partners of Glasgow for the Royal Bank of Scotland, with shopfitter Morris Spottiswood.

The judges commended Caroline Cust, Lewis & Hickey, MacCormac Jamieson Prichard, and Fitch – all London-based.

National Association of Shopfitters president Colin Kemp confirmed on Tuesday that the Design Partnership Award would be made annually in the future. “The competition has shown that designers working in partnership with experienced shopfitters are able to produce quality results on very small budgets,” he said.

The award-winning schemes will be published in Design Week next week.
