Most areas of design just aren’t sexy enough for press and magazine journalists, and, indeed, their readers.

This is to do with the cult of personality: readers will happily read about James Dyson and Terence Conran, but would really prefer Matthew Williamson and Zaha Hadid on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Fashion design and architecture, I would venture, are simply more exciting to write and read about.
