Richmond to design Maltese hospital interiors

Richmond International has been appointed to design interiors for Malta’s latest private hospital project, The Capua Palace.

The consultancy, working with architect Llewelyn Davis, is devising interiors concepts for all 58 bedrooms and four suites, the atrium, coffee shop and a small retail outlet. The hospital is due to open at the end of this year.

“There is no reason why a hospital bedroom should be less comfortable than a hotel room,” says Richmond chairman Trevor Cotterell. “We hope to incorporate local design influences with sandstone, mosaics and natural wall finishes, and employ Maltese furniture manufacturers.”

Barry Derbyshire Associates is refurbishing the Mid Med Bank of Malta’s flagship branch in the island’s capital Valletta. The 1400m2 scheme is being considered as a prototype for a possible roll-out to the bank’s 58 branches.
