Show goes on at the New Designers exhibition
You have to credit the design management contingent at last week’s New Designers show with ingenuity. A gaping void appeared in the small gallery space occupied by the three colleges involved, owing to the non-appearance of would-be stand-holder the Chartered Society of Designers.
Non-plussed by the situation, tomorrow’s client hopefuls promptly installed a makeshift plinth and dubbed it their soap-box, inviting everyone to stand up and say their piece.
How much more refreshing to hear the concerns of a new generation than the same old chestnuts being addressed by the old boys’ and girls’ brigade.
And the CSD? It turned up on another stand within the London exhibition.
