Colors to be published on 27 May

A compilation of 13 issues of Benetton magazine Colors is published on 27 May to celebrate the work of designer and former editor-in-chief Tibor Kalman.

The book is designed by Judith Hudson. Kalman explored ‘the world’s problems and preoccupations to propel social change’, according to the book’s publisher Thames & Hudson, which claims the magazine pushed the boundaries of editorial design by making words secondary to images.

The book includes at least three spreads from each magazine and features a complete facsimile of the thirteenth issue as well as Kalman’s sketches and notes. Colors: Issues 1-13, The Tibor Kalman Years, is edited by Maira Kalman, designer, co-founder of M&Co and wife of the late Tibor, and New York’s Bespoke Books principal Ruth Peltason.
