Trevail moves to FutureBrand

FutureBrand is set to boost its global profile, possibly through acquisition, following the arrival this week of Charles Trevail as European managing director.

Trevail, formerly London managing director of Enterprise IG, details five priorities for his new position, which includes a place on the group’s worldwide board:

To raise FutureBrand’s profile globally;

To reclaim its leadership in retail and airline identity;

To add to the group’s strategic skills in its non-US offices;

To work with Stephen Merry of The Coleman Group, FutureBrand’s Interpublic Group branding stablemate, to add value to both by integrating their respective offers in offices across the world;

To attract and retain the best talent.

Regaining leadership in retail and airline work involves “playing to the strengths of existing players”, particularly FutureBrand Davies Baron, in whose office Trevail is based. But it will also involve “hiring people from the client side” to boost the strategic side and acquisition,” he says.

David Grainger has already joined the London team as a consultant from The Body Shop and Gerrie Smith has come from British Airways. Along with New York colleagues James Cerruti, formerly with The Bank of America, and telecoms and media specialist Randy Ringer, they will take global responsibility for their specific “categories”.

Trevail and group creative director David Davies are looking to employ “category leaders” for financial services, telecoms and media and automotive work in London.

Though he will not be drawn on acquisition targets, Trevail indicates that he is looking for medium-sized brand consultancies of between 20 and 30 people.
