No time to socialise in design industry

Your heady student days are supposedly the best of your life, but it’s all work and no play these days, particularly if you’re silly enough to study design.

Poor postgraduate St Martins College of Art and Design communication design student Caroline Whittal moans to London’s Evening Standard that the course is twice as hard as her first degree, what with Thursday morning ‘crits’ and working to briefs, which leaves her little time for socialising.

‘There’s a lack of time, energy and money,’ she sighs, before adding she has a part-time job earning £5 an hour.

And she expects things to improve when she leaves?
