Hill Watson whips up dessert for Rowntree

The Hill Watson Company has created the name, identity and packaging with a comedy flavour for a new Rowntree dessert.

Called Double Act, the dessert divides into a jelly base and mousse-like topping as it sets and comes in three flavours – strawberries and cream, peaches and cream, and bananas and custard.

The pack’s theme is based on “the famous Morecambe and Wise double act stage routine,” says a Hill Watson spokesman. Consultancy designer Emma Rhodes adds: “We tried to give it a comedy element. It is aimed at the slightly older mother and the Morecambe and Wise theme is something which she would remember and relate to.”

The packaging is brightly coloured, featuring a magic wand with a trail of stars, whizzing around two cups of the dessert “to emphasise the magical aspect of the double-layered separation”, explains the spokesman.
