Chairman of BDG resigns

BDG McColl chairman Stephen Hitchins has left the WPP Group-owned consultancy after 15 years. He will not be replaced, his duties will be devolved to divisional managing directors instead.

Both Hitchins and consultancy chief executive Gary Browning describe the departure as a mutual and amicable decision.

Hitchins plans to devote more time to other design industry commitments, including roles at the Charterted Society of Designers, the Design Business Association and DICEG, the Government design industry consultative group for exports. He may accept a number of non-executive directorships.

BDG McColl’s three divisional managing directors – Sue Wheldon, Colin Fox and Noaman Muna – will now carry out the “ambassadorial” role previously filled by Hitchins, says Browning.
