Browns will focus on UK artists

Browns Focus, the first unisex venture by 25-year-old fashion retailer Browns, is due to open on London’s South Molton Street next month.

It intends to be a showcase for “the most dynamic youth-style labels, in an innovative contemporary arts surround”, according to a Browns spokeswoman. Men’s and women’s clothing will hang side-by-side.

The interior has been designed by design duo Miller Miller, whose previous works include the revamping of a warehouse for Donna Karan’s celebrated London Fashion Week Party.

Browns Focus is keen to commission young British artists to design installations for the window; the first of these will be by design company Inflate, which has recently shot to fame with its plastic inflatable creations.

Miller Miller’s interior plans include fine ash light wood surfaces with bright aluminium wall-panelling, lights that evoke subtle wave-like patterns on everything and video art projections.

Although Inflate has not yet revealed its plans for the window installations, a spokesman confirms: “We shall be doing something fantastic.”
