Now we know why designers always have the radio on.

London consultancy Hoop tuned into BBC London Live this week and found itself star of the airwaves. As part of its Children in Need fundraiser, the station encouraged listeners who work in unusual buildings – Hoop’s HQ is a former shirt factory in Hackney – to phone up and tell London Live all about it. Hoop rang presenter Maxwell Hutchinson – former Royal Institute of British Architects president – pledged £400 and won the competition.

The consultancy now has the services of Hutchinson for the day, and intends to make him earn his crust by rearranging the office furniture.
