Smith & Milton OriginaL senior designer Chris Bradley is the consultancy’s new creative director following a reshuffle of its top staff.

Howard Milton, company founder and formerly creative director, becomes chairman. Lawrence Barnett has been recruited from outside as client manager and another internal appointment – managing director – is awaited in January.

“We’ve never divided our design skills before. We need specific tasks for people,” explains Milton, adding: “Chris was promoted because we need someone to build up a packaging design team, separate from corporate projects.”

Bradley has been at Smith & Milton Original for three years and was previously at Williams and Phoa and Roundel Design. He sees his new role as “nurturing and encouraging from the inside”.

He says he will give individual attention to less experienced designers and attempt to put “the passion back into the everyday design process”.
