Design of London’s Academy Schwarzkopf

The Association of Ideas has completed the design of London’s Academy Schwarzkopf, which opened yesterday in London’s Seymour Place. The hairdressing school occupies two floors of a 500m2 former retail space and features white and transparent coloured interiors to ‘maximise the feeling of space’, says AOI director Jonathan Lovett. Three training studios are situated on the ground floor, featuring bespoke circular carousels, and high ‘altars’ with which to blend colours for hair, while seminar rooms and a theatre are sited on the lower ground floor. ‘The [Academy] entrance is marked by a cold cathode light box, which reaches into the lower ground floor, radiating colours,’ Lovett adds.
