The annual report for the International Rugby Board has been created by Microdot Visual Communications. The report will be distributed next month.
Microdot has also designed a brochure that promotes rugby as an olympic sport to accompany a meeting between the IRB and the Olympic Committee at the end of this month.
The design group won the five-figure fee job on the strength of previous work for Lord’s cricket ground. Art director Brian Cannon says that the two pieces had very different briefs.
“The Olympics brochure is designed to support the speech of the IRB. It is very image driven to appeal to people who don’t know much about rugby with plenty of vivid, multinational pictures,” according to Cannon. “But the annual report was designed for rugby enthusiasts.
“We wanted to give the IRB a more professional looking report to reflect the expansion of the organisation and its global ambitions.”
Microdot has also been asked to manage, design and produce the global quarterly magazine for the IRB.
