Redbird cooks up new look for food retailers

Food retailers Maison du Pain and Cypressa will unveil identities and packaging by Redbird Design Company at the end of August.

Maison du Pain, which produces bakery items for distribution outlets, hotels and restaurants, is moving into the direct-to-the-consumer market and launching a range of sweet muffins, called Panettone Stella. It has asked Redbird to develop an identity to reflect the change, design packaging for the confectionery range and redesign packaging for its range of bakery products.

Redbird designed the existing Maison du Pain identity in 1988.

The consultancy is redesigning Cypressa’s identity and packaging across its whole range of Mediterranean products, which includes olive oils and dry products, such as pulses.

‘Until now [the Cypressa range] has been packaged as each product has been developed,’ says Redbird project manager Juliet Davidson.

The consultancy was appointed to the Maison du Pain job without a pitch. It presented proposals in a pitch against Carter Wong Tomlin for the Cypressa job.
