Bafta adds design prizes

The British Academy of Film and Television has introduced three design-related categories to the inaugural Bafta Television Craft Awards, taking place on 30 April.

Design, costume design and graphic design are three of the 11 classifications which will celebrate originality, innovation and excellence in the television industry. The decision to give the Craft Awards an individual ceremony for the first time reflects the accelerating global demand for British-made programmes.

“A self-contained event at a time of expansion was the only way to pay wholesome tribute to the tremendous pool of UK craft skills in demand globally,” says Craft Awards committee member Hilary Bevan-Jones.
