Jones Garrard is attempting to redefine the rail offer with this design for Virgin Rail’s new fleet of high speed tilting trains. The environmentally friendly trains can go up to 162mph and will offer a choice of interior moods and facilities. Jones Garrard is part of a consortium bidding for the manufacture of the new trains.

Random Product Design had had enough of black business-style mobile phones which do not cater for the market’s broadening customer base. Business development manager David Smith teamed his group up with GE Plastics and came up with these prototypes. Pictured (from left) are the mass-market Brand Phone, the Personal Phone and the Kids Phone. Each uses the aesthetic instead of the traditional ‘more functions and smaller gadget’ yardstick to differentiate it from the swathe. After a few tweaks the phones will be ready for manufacture, says Smith.
