No point being sheepish about your marketing tactics

Ever wondered what the farmer and the businessman talk about at provincial ’round tables’? Sheep. No, not in that way. At least, not before dessert. Sheep as advertising media, that’s what.

When Abbey Telecom managing director Tony Raynor got together with hard-up farmer Andrew Taylor from Lytham, Lancashire, lambs were saved from the slaughter. Raynor suggested that all the little diddy lambs in Taylor’s flock sport a website address – whoisthis.co.uk – on their winter coats.

‘The sponsorship deal gets us a field full of lambs on a prominent road into Lytham, which is home to a large number of company directors.’

Beats billboards any day, it seems. In these recessionary times, marketing will find a way, by hook or by crook.
