Last week the National Gallery gave a sneak preview of its Portico entrance scheme, which will open on 24 September. The main entrance on Trafalgar Square will be opened up to restore the original interior by JD Crace, and the 1887 Tunisian pink marble is being restored to the walls of its Staircase Hall. The entrance has been restored by Dixon Jones Architects.
