Small sets a new style for Design Council

The Design Council launches its annual report this week, designed by Small, the first evidence of an overhaul of the brand that will see it embrace a more consistent visual style.

Although the marque will remain unchanged, Small partner Guy Marshall says the report, with its A5 format and strong visual approach, ‘sets out the style for Design Council publications going forward’.

Entitled Futureproof, it has a red thread sewn into the front cover, that will be applied photographically across other print items. It also features a ‘photographic essay of Britain’, by landscape photographer Daniel Holdsworth, and copy by Howard Fletcher.

Sustainability issues were a key consideration, Marshall adds, and ink and stock are both ‘very Green’.

Small has been working with the Design Council on the project since November 2004.
