Abbey takes Landor branding

Abbey National is set to rebadge its high street branches with its new parent company’s brand.

Abbey’s incumbent branding group Wolff Olins will oversee the implementation of the work, notwithstanding the fact that the group’s overhaul of Abbey’s branding 18 months ago will be dropped.

Over the weekend, Abbey announced plans to rebrand its 726 UK branches in the style of Spanish parent company Santander Central Hispano. These were created by Landor Associates in 1986.

A spokesman for the bank confirms that Wolff Olins will advise on implementation of the red Abbey identity (pictured), ‘developed internally’ by Abbey using Grupo Santander guidelines.
