RCA appoints new professor

The Royal College of Art has appointed Irene McAra-McWilliam as professor of interaction design and head of department for the RCA computer-related design course.

McAra-McWilliam is director of design research and development at Philips Design in the Netherlands, with responsibility for coordinating research worldwide. She will continue to work as a consultant for Philips Design.

She replaces Gillian Crampton Smith who left at Christmas to set up the Interaction Design Institute in Ivrea, Italy.
